Go Green for Spring!
With the warmer weather not far away, it’s the perfect time to think about your upcoming transportation needs. Will you be riding a bike to work this summer? Will you be carpooling to save on summer gas prices? The HSC Parking Office has options available to you.
HSC has free bicycle racks in various locations throughout the grounds and the Parking Office offers secure parking for your bicycles in compounds located in the parking lot between the old Adult Emergency and Brodie Centre and in Emily Street Parkade EP115 for a nominal fee. Please visit the Parking Office at GF117 to register.
The Health Sciences Centre is a member of www.carpool.ca, a web-based rideshare management program. There is no fee to the user. Just simply log on to www.carpool.ca and select HSC as your destination. After completing a short questionnaire, you will get an email matching you with other people who want to carpool to HSC. You can also have this information provided by calling 1-800-668-RIDE (7533).
The rest is up to you. Once you and the other parker(s) have agreed to carpool, enter your agreement on the website or by calling 1-800-668-RIDE (7533). If at least one of you is a monthly parker at HSC contact the Parking Office to implement your agreement.
For complete information on either of these options, please visit our website at www.hsc.mb.ca/parking or call the Parking Office at 787-2715.

With winter just around the corner, plugging in your vehicle will again become necessary.
When the mercury does drop, HSC parkades and parking lots are outfitted with receptacles so you can plug in. To ensure HSC doesn't consume energy needlessly and still provide cars in the parkades with adequate protection against winter temperatures, the power operates on the following cycles:
Temperature 'On' Time
-5° & above 0%
-5° to -10° 25%
-10° to -15° 50%
-15° to -20° 75%
below -20° 100%
Vehicle Safety and Warmth
- Be sure to check your extension cord. Damaged cords can cause the circuit breakers to flip off or at the very least the connection may be incomplete.
- Plug in only your block heater. Plugging in more accessories may cause the circuit breaker to flip off. You'll not only be inconveniencing yourself but potentially your parking neighbor.
- The plugs deliver power on a cycle that reflects the temperature. Windchill does not apply.
- If an electrical outlet isn't working (and is not simply on a down time in the power cycle), call 787-2715 with the location and stall number.
Parking Operations is pleased to announce William Avenue Parkade has undergone a complete electrical upgrade for this coming winter. These new receptacles operate as noted above and show the following to the customer.
