Description:
Physiotherapists are integral members of the multidisciplinary team who assess
and treat people with a variety of acute and chronic health concerns. They use physical means to
restore or re-educate movement and function. Physiotherapists are committed healthcare professionals who
participate in life-long learning and continuing education, research and clinical studies and are active
in the education of students, staff and the community.

Physiotherapy Services at the CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL

Physiotherapy provides services to children with dysfunction in the following areas: musculoskeletal,
neurodevelopmental and cardiorespiratory. Specialty programs have been developed for in-patients and
outpatients with cystic fibrosis, burns, hemophilia, brain injuries, postural disorders and rheumatological
and oncological conditions. When indicated, outpatient physiotherapy follow-up will be arranged either at
Children's Hospital or through community/rural resources.
Physiotherapy Services at the REHABILITATION HOSPITAL

Physiotherapy provides in and outpatient services to the Rehabilitation Medicine Programs:
neurological conditions, spinal cord injuries, amputations, and arthritis. Day Hospital services are
available to individuals with amputations, spinal cord injuries or arthritic conditions. Out-patient
services are available for musculoskeletal problems including bone,
joint, muscle or mobility issues and balance/dizziness disorders of the inner ear.

Physiotherapy provides primarily in-patient services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to all clinical programs
at the Centre. Full service is provided between 08:00-16:15 Monday to Friday and reduced service from 16:15-21:15
Monday to Friday and 08:00-16:15 on weekends and statutory holidays. On-call service is available at all other times.
Specialty service areas include cardiorespiratory, trauma, neurosurgery, orthopedics, burns, medicine and hand therapy.
