Description:
Maintenance Services is responsible for maintaining the HSC building structures and fixed building systems and equipment. The department provides these services through various trades staff organized into 7 shops of like trades. 

The shops are: Electrical, Electronics, Plumbing, Environmental Services (heating, ventilation, cooling and temperature control), Architectural Services (painting, flooring, building structure), Facilities Services (beds, equipment and groundskeeping) and Shift Shop (24 hour electrical and mechanical response team). 

Maintenance Services provides emergency, same day, routine and preventive maintenance services as determined by the nature of the work and system/equipment being serviced. Maintenance also provides all keying for doors and millwork in the Centre. Repairs for fixed building repairs is budgeted by Maintenance. Repairs for department owned equipment is done on a chargeout basis for labour and material. Work on the hospital network is handled by the C&IS department. Repairs to bio-medical equipment is handled by the BME department.
