Awards of $2,000 (research) and $1,500 (travel). Specifically for Residents and Post-Doctorial (PhD) trainees (see guidelines).

Submissions are taken throughout the year and are reviewed at the next scheduled meeting.

Dr. Skye Rousseau (Psychiatry): Survey of psychiatrists’ attitudes towards Physician Assisted Death - $2000.00
Dr. Rebecca Whitley (General Surgery): Changes in General Surgery residents’ Self-perception of professionalism following introduction of a professionalism education program - $2000.00
Dr. Mohamed Abdelmawla (Neonatology): Integrated trans-thoracic ultrasound as a predictor of respiratory interventions in neonates at risk of hypoxemia - $2000.00
Dr. Abdalla Eltayeb (Neonatology): Usefulness of near-infrared spectroscopy to detect absence of cerebral auto-regulation in preterm infants with late onset compromised systemic circulation - $2000.00
Dr. Reem Amer (Neonatology): awarded a $1,500 MSE travel grant in order to present the results of her project entitled ‘Hemodynamic physiology directed care in infants with compromised systemic circulation’ at the Canadian National Perinatal Research Meeting in Banff, AB from February 10, 2016 – February 13, 2016.
Dr. Mansoor Farooqui (Pediatrics): awarded a $1,500 MSE travel grant in order to present the results of the project entitled ‘Cerebral Oxygenation Monitoring of Premature Infants during the Infant Car Seat Challenge Test (ICSC)’ at the 2017 Pediatric Academic Society meeting in San Francisco, CA from May 6 to 9, 2017.
Dr. Nareesa Ali (Psychiatry): awarded a $1,500 MSE travel grant in order to present the results of the project entitled ‘Physicians Attitudes Towards Transgender Patients’ at the Canadian Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry meeting in Calgary, AB from September 18 to 22, 2016.
Dr. Annika Klopp (Pediatrics): awarded a $1,500 MSE travel grant in order to present the results of the project entitled ‘The Canadian Healthy Infant Longitudinal Development Study’ at the American Academy of Pediatrics National Conference and Exhibition meeting in San Francisco, CA from October 22 to 25, 2016.
Dr. Herman Tam (Pediatrics): awarded a $1,500 MSE travel grant in order to present the results of the project entitled ‘Prescription Patterns of Epinephrine Auto-Injectors for Treatment of Anaphylaxis in Manitoba Children’ at the World Allergy Organization International Scientific meeting in Jerusalem from December 6 to 9, 2016.
