- Doppler
- Doppler ultrasound is used to assess blood flow. Colour Doppler
displays blood flow in shades of red or blue. Pulsed Doppler allows
the sonographer to obtain more detailed information and listen to the blood
flow.
-
- Endovaginal scan
- An internal ultrasound scan using a sterile probe. The scan is
performed with an empty bladder. An endovaginal scan allows the sonographer to
obtain high resolution images of the pelvic organs.
-
- Intravenous contrast
- A small amount of contrast material injected into an arm vein. This
is done occasionally to improve the Doppler signals from blood vessels.
-
- Sonographer
- The member of the allied health team who performs the diagnostic
ultrasound scans. All our sonographers are ARDMS
Registered Diagnostic
Medical Sonographers.
-
- Sonologist
- A medical doctor who is a specialist in diagnostic ultrasound. The
sonologist is responsible for the diagnostic report.
-
- Support Staff
- Receptionists, bookings clerks, and office staff.
-
- Survey scan
- The first part of a pelvic ultrasound exam. The probe is placed on the
lower abdomen and the pelvic organs are assessed.
