If you are applying to volunteer in the Children's Hospital, please obtain your criminal reference check before returning your application. Please visit the City of Winnipeg Police Service web site for full details (current cost and business hours). The cost per check is $32.50 which will be reimbursed once the applicant has been accepted as an HSC Children's Hospital volunteer. Be sure to save your receipt.

If you have any questions, please contact us at 787-3533 or email: volunteer@hsc.mb.ca.
Step 2 - The Interview
Once our office receives your application, one of our administrators will call you to arrange for an interview.
The interview is one of our ways of finding out more about you and your interests.
During the interview, feel free to ask any questions you may have about volunteering at HSC.
We will also discuss expectations of volunteers and hospital confidentiality.
Step 3 - Screening
After your interview, an administrator will contact your references.
If you want to volunteer in Children’s Hospital, the administrator will ensure the Child Abuse Registry is complete.
Step 4 - The Offer
If a successful match is made between your skills and abilities and an available position, the administrator will offer you a volunteer position. If you decide to accept the offer, the administrator will discuss a start date with you.
Step 5 - Training & Orientation
On your first day, you should come to Volunteer Services Office in the Thorlakson Building (MS208) and meet your administrator at the agreed upon time.
You will receive a name tag and uniform (if needed for your placement).
The administrator will give you a general orientation to the volunteer office (lockers, signing in/out) as well as the volunteer lounge.
You will also meet your immediate placement supervisor and receive specific training for your volunteer position. You are now ready to begin volunteering.
Step 6 - Feedback
Any questions or concerns? Please feel free to provide feedback to your administrator.
