What volunteers say about their volunteering experiences

As a result of volunteering I'm looking at going into medicine. I love helping people and any hospital is the perfect place to do so. If I don't go into medicine, I know I will still go into a field that concentrates on helping others. Thanks for the opportunity to give something back!

I love seeing people smile when I deliver flowers to the patients.

I am going into mental health profession and I gained insight into working with that population

It has made a difference for me by not only having something to do but also to learn about real jobs...it's also good for my resume

It allows for many new learning situations and introduced me to lots of fun, new people

Staff cannot be everywhere all the time so I feel I make their job easier by helping others.

Volunteering gives me something to look forward to each week

I learned a lot of new skills and it increased my self confidence.

Volunteering at the HSC gift shop has helped me develop new skills such as working as a cashier, making new friends and working well with customers and other volunteers.

I plan to volunteer at the HSC for the next few years until I am admitted into medical school. I feel that every day here brings me one step closer to achieving my goals. I love the staff. I love the other volunteers. I love the patients. This atmosphere keeps me ambitious and motivated and I love it!
